MOBILE, Ala. -- Anna Nordqvist was putting like a rookie again -- and thats a good thing. The Swede said she had perhaps her first "really good putting day" since her rookie year in 2009 with a course-record 61 on Saturday in the third round of the Mobile Bay LPGA Classic. South Koreas Chella Choi shot her second straight 6-under 66 to take a one-stroke lead over Jessica Korda and Nordqvist, who is seeking her first win since capturing the LPGA Championship and season-ending LPGA Tour Championship as a rookie. "I just felt like I tried to trust myself and trust my line and just hit it," Nordqvist said. "Usually, Im very close to making a lot of putts but its just the difference of making them. It just felt like sometimes I couldnt miss." Choi twice made three straight birdies to move to 17 under, and has made only two bogeys in three rounds on The Crossings course at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trails Magnolia Grove complex. Her best finish in four-plus years on the tour is a tie for second in the Manulife tournament in Canada last March. Choi, who had three top-five finishes last year, said she started checking out the leaderboard "every hole" at the start of the tournament and feels mentally stronger now in her bid to finally get a win. "I know my shot and my putting," she said. "I think just my mental and my experience and just confidence ... so I think I can do it. Hopefully." Nordqvist broke the course record of 62 set by Sydnee Michaels on Friday. Korda, the second-round leader, shot a 69. The American had a bogey on No. 11 when the ball landed in a divot and she tweaked her right wrist, and a double bogey on No. 12. She rebounded with a 33-foot eagle putt on the 16th hole. "It was left to right and it was pretty," Korda said, laughing. That was set up by what she said was a 325-foot drive sparked by the mentality that: "Oh, I havent hit the green in two almost all day, I need to go for it." Nordqvist had a run of five birdies starting on the third hole and added a 10-foot eagle putt on the par-5 13th hole. Nordqvist, who did have one bogey, holed a par-saving bunker shot from some 10 yards on 12. "Today was a lot of fun," she said. "I started out with a couple birdies, hit a lot of good shots, and I think I missed one green. And then I made that bunker shot and it was just like, I couldnt stop smiling, couldnt stop laughing." Win drought aside, the former Arizona State player thinks her game has improved substantially since making the splash as a rookie because shes more consistent. "Its fun being in contention and having people watch," she said. "Thats what you work hard for. Its a lot more fun playing up there than playing for 50th or 60th, so its a good place to be." Defending champion Stacy Lewis was four strokes back with a 63 after opening the day in 35th. She won both Alabama tournaments last year. Lewis had a string of four straight birdies from Nos. 5-8 to start a stretch of eight in 10 holes. Gone were the mistakes of the previous two days when she had a double bogey and two bogeys each round for 70s. "It was one of those stress-free days," Lewis said. "I needed something like that to get back into the tournament." Webb and Korda will play together for the fourth straight round. Webb had her first bogey since early Thursday but already had three birdies in the first six holes. "I got off to really quite a nice start," the 38-year-old Australian said. "I was cruising along and then threw a three-putt in there on No. 7 and sort of lost a bit of my momentum there and didnt really get it going again. I had a lot of in-between numbers today and just wasnt guessing right." The courses low round entering the week was 64 by Danielle Downey in 2008 and Webb and Sjodin in 2011. In fact, Lewiss low round in last years win was 67. That might not cut it on a weekend when Webb pointed out, "I nearly got lapped at 69." Charlottetowns Lorie Kane shot a 67, and is nine back at 8-under 208. Sue Kim of Langley, B.C., turned in a 72, leaving her at 210. Jessica Shepley of Oakville, Ont., shot a 70, and is at 214. Match factsSaturday, October 29 Start time 1330 local (0800 GMT)Big pictureNew Zealand have never won an ODI series in India. While the prospect of correcting such a record is daunting at the best of times, the whitewash in the Test series and the drubbing in Dharamsala only made it seem near-impossible. But after nearly two weeks, with the series at 2-2, they would rather look at Saturdays game as a chance to create history. After the Ranchi ODI, every member of New Zealands team management has used elegant variations of the same theme.New Zealands greatest strength during their last visit to India, for the World T20, lay in their astute reading of pitches. Tim Southee put it down to effective information exchange between batsmen and bowlers. Not every time we can get it right. We just give ourselves the best chance to read the conditions and adapt quickly, he said on the eve of the match. One area where they have not adapted quickly enough is their middle order. Corey Anderson and Luke Ronchi struggled in the first three ODIs and were subsequently dropped, but Ross Taylor has shown signs of form in the last two games. In a crunch game, they will need most of their batsmen to back what has generally been a competent bowling unit.India, on the other hand, will probably look at an opportunity missed after they could not close out the series in Ranchi. That means Jayant Yadav and Mandeep Singh will have to wait till at least the new year to make their ODI debuts, unless there is a last-minute injury or a left-field selection punt. For a young middle order, though, this is another chance to repay the faith that MS Dhoni has invested in them.Form guideIndia LWLWW (last five completed matches, most recent first)New Zealand WLWLWIn the spotlightAxar Patels record of two wickets from four games does not really indicate how well he has bowled this series. He has been Dhonis go-to holding bowler every time New Zealands batsmen have looked threatening, and in Ranchi he even contributed a gutsy 38 after being promoted to No.5. Axars niggardly bowling will once again remain crucial to bottling up New Zealands middle order. With seven wickets from four games, Tim Southee has quietly climbed to second place in the top wicket-takers list for the series. His late swing with the new ball and nerveless death bowling has given New Zealand all-round bowling cover. Southees knack of striking at the right time, like his dismissals of Dhoni in Delhi, and Manish Pandey and Kedar Jadhav in Ranchi, has proved to be game changing.Team newsAjinkya Rahane, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Umesh Yadav were among those that did not feature in Indias optional training session. Dhoni had an extended hit in the spinners nett and, along with Jadhav, practised the sweep for a considerable length of time.dddddddddddd Jasprit Bumrah appeared to have regained his fitness and will likely take Dhawal Kulkarnis place in the XI. India are unlikely to tinker with the side too much otherwise.India (probable): 1 Rohit Sharma, 2 Ajinkya Rahane, 3 Virat Kohli, 4 MS Dhoni (capt & wk), 5 Manish Pandey, 6 Kedar Jadhav, 7 Hardik Pandya, 8 Axar Patel, 9 Amit Mishra, 10 Umesh Yadav, 11 Jasprit BumrahIn Ranchi, New Zealand had replaced Corey Anderson and Matt Henry with two spinners in Ish Sodhi and Anton Devcich. Taylor felt the six-bowler dynamic gave captain Kane Williamson greater latitude. Williamson and Mike Hesson will probably have to choose between the extra batting muscle of Anderson and the extra spin option of Devcich.New Zealand (probable): 1 Martin Guptill, 2 Tom Latham, 3 Kane Williamson (capt), 4 Ross Taylor, 5 BJ Watling (wk), 6 James Neesham, 7 Anton Devcich/Corey Anderson, 8 Mitchell Santner, 9 Tim Southee, 10 Trent Boult, 11 Matt HenryPitch and conditionsThe cyclone Kyant, which threatened to hit Visakhapatnam, has weakened into a deep depression, but there is forecast for showers on Friday and thunderstorm on Saturday. There were heavy showers on Thursday night as well, but the curator, K Nagamallaiah, said the ground staff had covered 80% of the outfield. On Saturday, the pitch appeared bald and devoid of any grass, even as the outfield remained lush. The rain wont have any effect on the pitch. It will remain good for batting and have good bounce, he said.Stats and triviaAmit Mishra has taken 10 wickets in the series, three more than any other bowler from either sides.Tim Southee is the only New Zealand bowler to have taken three-wicket hauls in the series. He did it twice and both came in wins - Delhi and Ranchi.India have a 4-1 win-loss record in Visakhapatnam.
